Norman Sharp Award

< go back to list

Year: 2011
Awarded to: Mick Sabin

Mick first played for Upton House in June 1954 as a 15year old and he has played ever since for 57 seasons. He is the all-time highest run scorer for the Club with nearly 20,000 runs and he has so many wicket keeping victims that we can't count them!

Mick helped in preparing the Ground very early on when he was the joint Groundsman and latterly the sole Groundsman for the past 20 years. The ground is always in top condition and the opposition always feel that they have had a great day out. Mick does dozens of unseen jobs that help to keep the Club on an even keel.

Mick is now in his early seventies and we hope that he will come back from injury this year to keep for us next season

Mick has been a great ambassador for the game and a fine role model for the younger players. He often umpires through an innings even though he is keeping wicket when we field. Mick is loved by all and truly represents all that this club stands for. This award is worthy recognition for the outstanding contribution that Mick has made to Upton House
