Profile:Abdul Hazeef was recognized as an emerging talent by Warwickshire CCC, after successfully impressing during his youth at Moseley CC. Short spells at Stratford, Smethwick and Coventry & NW coincided with those years on the county scene at Edgbaston and New road, until Abdul moved to Dorridge CC for the 2002 season. The club were in the Warwickshire League at the time, and some may have doubted the wisdom of his move. However, Abdul contributed heavily with bat and ball, including an unbeaten century on the day Dorridge secured top-spot and a place in the Birmingham Premier League for the first time in their history.

Their first season in Division Two East was to prove Abdul's most successful with the bat, as he plundered 982 runs at an average of 66.5, including an un forgettable 116* to overcome Blossomfield's 285-5, that helped take Dorridge straight up into Division One at the first attempt.

There followed two years of consistent scoring( aggregate 1273 runs at 45.9), although Dorridge moved down to Division Two for the 2006 season, where another 673 runs (63.6) flowed. At the end of that season, Abdul agreed to take on the role of 1st XI Captain. It was to prove a wise decision

Whilst his own batting remained as consistent as ever (543 runs,at 45.2), it was his leadership and drive that pushed Dorridge into the promotion places, with a perfectly timed charge in the second half of the season, and back into the First Division with a win at Penn on the final day.

Although their first season back was to prove difficult, Dorridge survived, and Abdul remained a key contributor with the bat (499 runs at 49.9), and also now with the ball, taking 24 wickets with his newly-found off-spin.

The 2009 season has been a culmination of the progress made not only by Dorridge, but also by Abdul himself. The highlight of his 502 runs (38.6) was undoubtedly a memorable unbeaten century against Old Hill, which helped towards a win that eventually Brought Dorridge to the brink of a promotion spot with just one game left. Unfortunately, it was not to be this time for Dorridge , but with his batting proving as reliable as ever, his bowling now a major force (31 wickets, at 14.0), and his captaincy developing with every game, Abdul's contribution to the club's most successful season is something he can be truly proud of.

A cricketer well-liked by his team mates, both at Dorridge CC and Warwickshire Pilgrims CC and respected by his opponents, Abdul Hafeez is widely recognized as a very talented all-rounder, with bat, ball and in the field, as well as a thoughtful and dedicated Captain, and this latest award will be welcomed by all as truly well-deserved.
