Match Report

Oxford University won the toss and elected to bat with their opener out for 19 with the score at 25 in the 6th over which bought Sharma to the square. Their other opener followed with 39 having taken the score to 81. Sharma made steady progress and made and reached his 50 off 67 balls in 91 minutes. 2 more wickets fell with the score at 126 for 4 in the 30th over. Sharma was then joined by Klopper and they added 124 for the 5th wicket, seeing Sharma reach a fine 100 off 112 balls in 138 minutes, before Klopper was out for 62 having reached his 50 off 47 balls in 46 minutes. The innings closed following the allotted 50 overs with the University on 278 for 5 and Sharma unbeaten on 117 not out.

In reply, Conference were 35 for 2 in the 7th over. Mahmood and Mohamed then added 85 for the third wicket with Mahmood departing with 40 having hit 7 4’s. Another quick wicket and conference were 124 for 4 in the 25th over. Mohamed was next to go with 61 having reached his 50 off 58 balls and an innings included 7 4’s and 2 6’s. Wickets continued to fall with Conference finally all out for 226 after 47 overs which included 38 runs from Patel and an Extras total of 37 which included 27 wides! – The University running out winners by 52 runs.
