Match Report

On a dry but cold and windy day, Conference batted first. After a steady start in which Ben Williams scored 28 Conference lost wickets at regular intervals and were 78 for 6 wickets with 22 overs remaining. A daunting task ahead. Our first female player, Ria Fackerell then gave Andy Owen valuable support adding 71 for the seventh wicket before Fackerell (13) was bowled. A further 51 runs were added by Owen and Tyler Walsh before the former was dismissed after an excellent innings of 77. Walsh (34) was the final dismissal in the last of the 40 overs with a total of 233 runs on the board. The last 4 wickets had added 155 runs. Over the innings, the School used 9 bowlers the most successful being Brookes (4 for 32) and Ahmed (2 for 35).

In reply, the School made a steady start putting on 32 for the first wicket. Conference captain, Alex Roslyn then entered the attack and took a hat trick including 2 lbw’s. The batting struggled thereafter and a second hat trick was narrowly avoided. The School was all out for 131 in the 23rd over, the main run scorers being Rigg (41), Mitchell (29) and Brookes (23). Conference used 7 bowlers and they were ably supported by excellent fielding throughout. The main wicket takers were Alex Roslyn (3 for 0 in 1 over) and J.P.McGrane(3 for 20).Thanks go to the School for preparing an excellent wicket and for their generous hospitality throughout the afternoon. Also to the umpires and scorers for their perseverance in adverse conditions .
