Match Report

To celebrate their 125th Anniversary Walmley Cricket Club invited the MCCC to mark the occasion by playing a 45 over match at their excellent ground.

On a very sunny afternoon a high scoring match ensued.. Conference batting first amassed 284 thanks in the main to Renwick Hooper (Handsworth) who scored a magnificent 106 including 8 sixes and 7 fours and Josh Banks (Stourbridge) whose 63 included 2 sixes and 10 fours. For the hosts Paul griffiths took 3-44.

In a spirited reply Walmley reached 228 with G.Prowse being 72 not out, including 12 fours, and Adam Breakspeare's 41 included no less than 10 fours. Dan Norman was the leading Conference bowler taking 3-41, leaving Conference winner sby 56 runs.

It was unfortunate that neither the President or the Chairman of the host club were in attendance but Conference Chairman, Alan Neal, had much pleasure in presenting a commemorative plaque to Nathan Hill, Chairman of the Cricket Committee. Our thanks are extended to Walmley Cricket Club for staging the game.
